You’ve heard of a #selfie haven’t you? It’s when you take a picture of yourself with your smart phone.
But there’s a whole other phenomenon called a #shelfie! A shelfie is when you take a picture of a shelf that you’ve carefully arranged. And of course, since we spend our days arranging and re-arranging our shelves and fireplace mantles.

As I was wandering around the shop the other day, I realized that we have a number of animals in stock. Maybe not real animals, but they’re really animals.

Well, it’s been quite a time over the last two weeks! Our barn sale was a huge success! We estimate that more than 600 people were there to take advantage of the amazing things we were selling – actually, Stiles was selling them, we just helped.
After the sale, Eric headed to the beach while the rest of us stayed in town to recuperate. The shop is back open now and we’ve got some great things for the rest of the summer! Stop by and say hey!
I can’t figure out whether we’re taking off next week (June 28-July 7) because we’re going to be so exhausted from the Barn Sale or we’re going to be celebrating the 4th of July! Either way, the shop will be closed for the week and will re-open on Tuesday, July 7th.
We will either see you at the Barn Sale or at the shop after the holiday!

Father’s Day is Sunday, June 21, and Halcyon House Antiques is your source for great items for dad’s day. We have a range of ties from Bird Dog Bay, which, when you look at them closely, are really quite hilarious!

One of the enduring trends in women’s fashion is tunics. They are so versatile and can be dressed up and dressed down.
We have accessorized this white-trimmed, navy blue tunic with a jaunty blue and white cotton scarf with blue and white tassels. It would be great paired with a pair of skinny white jeans, or a short white skirt.

One thing we pride ourselves on is our selection of fresh flowers around the shop throughout the year. Jonathan and Stiles both excel at arranging flowers, and can both do it with virtually no effort!
For this arrangement, in an old salesman’s sample, Jonathan went out and picked some pink and white azaleas and stuck them into the trough. They won’t last long, because there’s no water, but for the few hours, they looked terrific.
Here’s another little arrangement a friend whipped up, using azaleas and lilacs she picked at the shop… with our permission, of course. She used a small double-handled bowl for the arrangement.

We all worry about the children these days who have their noses stuck into their electronic devices playing games. But we remember those long summer days around the pool or at camp when we played games like dominos, cards or board games. And of course, there were the “bad boys” down the street who taught us all to play poker, a skill that served us well in college!
At Halcyon, we have a selection of these games that are just gorgeous!

We were playing around with some table-settings the other day, pulling china pieces out and replacing them with others. Moving napkins, changing silverware and glasses. All for our fun and your entertainment.
We started with the fish course, with two of our fun fish dishes.
Here, we went for slightly fewer than 50 shades of blue, with some classical patterns and some whimsical ones, too.
Now we are starting to layer the plates, with three complimentary dishes.

Halcyon House Antiques has just gotten in some beautiful jewelry and this carnelian loops necklace is one of my favorite pieces. It’s a great weight and the black and gold hoops set off the carnelian.
