Going Global

We all remember those cheezy plastic snow-globes that were around when we were kids. The snow was chunky stuff and the globes inevitably leaked after a few days. 

At Halcyon House, we have the most amazingly beautiful snow-globes that are a whole world away from the ones as kids.

These snow-globes are large and heavy and have tons of snow in them that floats lightly to the ground when you shake them. 

My favorite is the Buddha one, just so serene, made in a frosted crystal, with sparkly shimmery snowflakes.

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like…

Well, you know what it’s beginning to look a lot like!  Adorable HEDGEHOGS!We are just starting to stock Halcyon House Antiques with baubles and balls, beautiful ornaments and an exquisite collection of snow globes. I wish I could show you the little video I made of this Buddha snow-globe, but the internet isn’t cooperating.

Fits Like a Glove!

There’s a nip in the air these days when we head out to walk the dog, head off to work or take the children to school, and nothing’s better for warding off a chill like a chic pair of gloves! Each year, we work with our source to select the most fun, the most elegant and the most unique combinations of trims, colors and styles of gloves. Take a look.

Baubles & Beads

One of our favorite jewelry designers is Angela Caputi, from Florence, Italy, whom Jonathan discovered on a stroll through the city one evening. Although the shop was closed, he made a point of going back the next day, and meeting with Angela and her staff, and then placing an order for Halcyon House Antiques.

We are thrilled to announce that we’ve just received the pieces from her fall line, and they’re fantastic! The colors are so rich and lush. The styles are so chic!

Angela has a great eye for design, and it shows in every piece she’s created.

Come on by and check these pieces for yourself. Remember, the holidays aren’t too far off, and a piece of Angela Caputi would make a great gift for you… or for someone you love.

Off to the Hunt

Here in the beautiful Green Spring Valley, many of our lives revolve around horses and hounds, so when we saw this fabulous 1920’s-vintage Royal Doulton china, we had to snap it up for the shop!

There are a variety of pieces with this set, and we’re selling them by the piece, because we realize that not everyone wants a huge set of china. My favorite pieces are the fun square plates with the detail of the rider in the pond!

Each piece has little details for you to find and that’s part of their charm!

We all worry about the children these days who have their noses stuck into their electronic devices playing games. But we remember those long summer days around the pool or at camp when we played games like dominos, cards or board games. And of course, there were the “bad boys” down the street who taught us all to play poker, a skill that served us well in college!
